It used to take a specialized skill to be able to stylize images for advertising and social media campaigns. Now, even the graphic novice can create beautiful content, whether it’s from a computer or phone. Today I will be sharing one of my favorite resources for quick graphic creation, Canva!

What it’s for: image editing and enhancing, create your own gifs and animations

Canva is a game changer when it comes to work that normally would require the expertise in Photoshop or a similar editing software. Did I mention, it’s free?? Their paid plan does have a number of added benefits but if you’re just dipping your toes into content creation, the free plan is a great place to start.

It’s also about so much more than just making a nice social media graphic. I’ve used Canva to create Christmas cards, a bridal shower invitation, and to fancy up a resume.

As you get into Canva, you’ll probably see – I definitely use it to create all of my imagery. It’s such a neat resource.

What makes a paid plan worthwhile?  I love the instant resize feature.  You can turn your blog graphic into an instagram sized post so quickly!  There are also a number of premium features related to animating your artwork that can really snazz up your visuals.

This all isn’t to say that Canva can completely replace a professional graphic designer, that is certainly not the case.  However, it gives you power to make your own edits for your daily work in a very user friendly way.  Save the designer for the big jobs, and take on more of the graphic world yourself, you’ll be glad you did!
